Kirin and Fujitsu elucidate a novel gut-brain axis mechanism of citicoline for the first time worldwide through AI-based analysis and experimental validation leveraging drug discovery DX technology

Tokyo and Kawasaki, Japan, Dec 19, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Kirin Holdings Company, Limited and Fujitsu Limited have jointly conducted research on food functionality simulation with the goal of creating new functionalities in food. This research utilized QSP (Quantitative Systems Pharmacology) models[1], one of the AI-driven digital transformation (DX) technologies for drug discovery[2], combined with real-world experimental validation. As a result, the study has, for the first time worldwide, identified a previously unknown mechanism within the gut-brain axis[3] associated with citicoline[4], a compound known for its role in supporting cognitive health. This finding was obtained by combining virtual subject simulations based on advanced QSP technologies developed by Fujitsu in collaboration with its partner Nova In Silico SAS(France) with cell-based experimental validation.Conventional drug discovery has been time-consuming and costly, with limitations in improving confidence in demonstrating efficacy in humans. In recent years, the diversification of medical needs and stricter constraints on animal testing have further increased the demand for efficient R&D. To address these challenges, the introduction of DX technologies utilizing AI and data science has been accelerating. In particular, virtual subject generation and in silico simulation[5] enabled by DX technologies are expected to improve reliability in demonstrating efficacy in humans without animal testing, making their application in food functionality research highly promising. This study represents a globally pioneering example of the full-scale application of DX technologies in food functionality research. It evaluated novel physiological functions of citicoline by combining AI-based prediction with experimental validation. These findings are expected to accelerate the adoption of AI-driven DX technologies in health science and contribute significantly to realizing a society that promotes longevity and well-being through innovative food solutions.Research ResultsWe collected information on citicoline’s metabolic profile and its action-related receptors from Kirin’s proprietary data and literature reviews. Using digital transformation (DX) technology, we constructed a QSP model to evaluate the functional properties of citicoline. Simulations using this model predicted that oral administration of citicoline enhances cholinergic signaling in the gut–nerve axis (Figure 1) and induces a dose-dependent increase in acetylcholine levels within intestinal synapses (Figure 2). In parallel, in vitro experimental validation confirmed that citicoline activates neuronal signaling through the intestinal pathway in a co-culture system of intestinal epithelial cells and neurons (Figure 3).Figure 1. Simulation-based evaluation of ligand-binding cholinergic receptors in enteric neurons using a QSP modelFigure 2. Simulation-based evaluation of acetylcholine levels within intestinal synapses using a QSP modelFigure 3. Assessment of Neural Activation with a Microelectrode Array in an Intestinal Epithelial Cell–Neuron Co-culture SystemKey FindingsThis study predicted, through AI-based analysis, that citicoline could activate neuronal signaling via the gut and validated this prediction in vitro. Furthermore, gut nerves are known to be closely interconnected with the brain. This research has elucidated part of the gut-brain mechanism of citicoline.Future PlansThis study represents a globally pioneering example of the full-scale application of DX technology in food functionality research. It provides insights that help elucidate new physiological functions of citicoline, which are essential for supporting brain function, thereby enhancing citicoline’s value as a functional ingredient for health.[1] QSP (Quantitative Systems Pharmacology) models:An information science approach that integrates physiological and pathophysiological networks into computational models to predict drug activity, therapeutic effects, and systemic effects of nutrients.[2] AI-driven digital transformation (DX) technologies for drug discovery: A method that uses digital technologies such as AI to comprehensively elucidate interactions between disease-related biological systems and drug discovery candidates, including pharmacokinetics and side effects, through mathematical modeling and computer-based analysis. This approach enables the analysis of large-scale molecular data and efficient identification of new drug candidates.[3] Gut-brain axis:A bidirectional communication network in which the gut and brain influence each other, interconnected through neural, endocrine, immune, and metabolic pathways.[4] Citicoline:A compound manufactured by Kyowa Hakko Bio, part of the Kirin Group, and marketed globally since the early 1990s, primarily in Europe and the United States. It is widely used as an ingredient in supplements and beverages designed to support cognitive function, as well as in pharmaceutical formulations. Currently, citicoline is approved for pharmaceutical use only in Japan.[5] In silico simulation:An information science methodology that uses data analysis of biological phenomena to predict biological and pharmacological processes and functionalities through computer-based simulations.About Kirin HoldingsKirin Holdings Company, Limited is an international company that operates in the Food & Beverages domain (Food & Beverages businesses), Pharmaceuticals domain (Pharmaceuticals businesses), and Health Science domain (Health Science business), both in Japan and across the globe.Kirin Holdings can trace its roots to Japan Brewery, which was established in 1885. TANAKA PRECIOUS METAL GROUP and TANAKA MIRAI Lab. Released Their Fourth Collaborative Musical Work with Sound Wellness Lab (Della): “Precious Metal Orchestra – A Musical Voyage through the Sound of Precious Metals for Christmas” now available for streaming.

TOKYO, Dec 18, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - TANAKA MIRAI Lab., an in-house innovation organization of TANAKA PRECIOUS METAL GROUP Co., Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Group CEO: Koichiro Tanaka), has co-created the musical work with Sound Wellness Lab, the sound research institute of Della Co., Ltd., a long-established label known for music that supports mental and physical well-being. The series features musical works composed entirely from the sounds of precious metals such as gold (Au), silver (Ag), and platinum (Pt). The fourth release in the series, “Precious Metal Orchestra – A Musical Voyage through the Sound of Precious Metals for Christmas” became available on major music streaming services on Friday, October 31, 2025, available exclusively in Japanese.TANAKA has been advancing a transformation of its overall business toward the year 2085, the 200th anniversary of its founding, with the aim of “creating a bright future that no one has ever seen before.” As part of this initiative, TANAKA established the TANAKA MIRAI Lab., an organization dedicated to driving the creation of new paradigms for a better future—from emergence to realization—and has been pursuing a wide range of research and development activities. As one of its research themes, TANAKA MIRAI Lab. has turned its focus to the “acoustic properties of precious metals”. With support from Della’s Sound Wellness Lab—which scientifically analyzes the physiological and psychological effects of sound on humans and produces musical works based on these insights—TANAKA MIRAI Lab. has been developing a unique series of musical compositions created solely from precious metal sounds since June 2025.The fourth collaborative musical work in the series features a Christmas theme. The piece is composed entirely of shimmering sound sources created from real precious metals performing well-known and classic Christmas melodies, delivering an ‘illumination of sound’ that enriches and transforms any space. The sound design was led by composer Mitsuhiro, renowned for his many acclaimed healing-music works.Going forward, we plan to further expand the range of precious metal sound sources and incorporate more diverse performance techniques, with the aim of establishing ‘precious metal sound’ as a new musical genre.Composer Mitsuhiro’s CommentThe sound produced by pure precious metals is astonishingly clear. It extends with a pristine, unwavering purity—like the crisp air of an early winter morning—and that clarity is part of its unique appeal. In an era that values music capable of moving the heart through the power of simple, authentic sound, I hope these compositions will be enjoyed across many occasions, from celebrations such as weddings to in-store background music, or even as a musical gift accompanying something special for a loved one.Composition DetailsTrack List1. NEC Provides Vehicle Management Equipment for Autonomous Driving at Tokyo International Airport

TOKYO, Dec 15, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) is providing vehicle management equipment (VME) for autonomous vehicles in an airport restricted area of Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport), one of the world’s busiest airports. This equipment is part of an order placed by the East Japan Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).The VME includes signal equipment that synchronizes with autonomous vehicles and camera systems which help to cover blind spots. Use of towing tractors with a level 4 of autonomous driving ability* began in an airport restricted area of Haneda Airport in December. These tractors will be managed by Japan’s two largest airlines, ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS CO., LTD. and Japan Airlines Co., Ltd.With air traffic on the rise in recent years, airports have placed increasing urgency on labor-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements, particularly in ground operations. Against this backdrop, the MLIT, airlines, and airport operators are collaborating to promote the automation of towing tractors and buses used for passengers and crew transport. However, airports operate in a significantly different environment compared to public roads. Achieving autonomous operation requires extensive optimization across both technical and environmental aspects. Specifically, unique operating rules for runways, taxiways, and aprons need to be established, along with vehicle control systems that function in environments where aircraft and vehicles coexist. Furthermore, while safe traffic has traditionally relied on communication between human drivers, autonomous vehicles require new communication methods to ensure safety when they operate alongside human-driven vehicles.NEC’s VME enable autonomous driving by leveraging over half a century of experience in air traffic control and airport-related systems, as well as close collaboration with stakeholders that include airlines and autonomous vehicle manufacturers. The introduction of VME also enables automatic signal control at intersections within airport restricted areas. This facilitates safe and smooth traffic management among both human drivers and autonomous vehicles. Additionally, cameras placed in low-visibility areas send video to autonomous vehicle operators, helping to cover blind spots and support precise safety management.Going forward, NEC will continue to leverage digital technologies to help build a next-generation mobility society, striving to create safe, secure, and efficient transportation infrastructure.*Level 4 Autonomous Driving: Driving operations are automated by a system under specific conditions, eliminating the need for driver intervention. These specific conditions are based on factors such as the area in which a vehicle can be driven, weather, and speed.ShareAbout NECThe NEC Group leverages technology to create social value and promote a more sustainable world where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential. NEC Corporation was established in 1899. Today, the NEC Group’s approximately 110,000 employees utilize world-leading AI, security, and communications technologies to solve the most pressing needs of customers and society. For more information, please visit https://www.nec.com, Copyright 2025 JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com. Both will start with the first-generation NSX, with plans to expand to other classic sport-type models in the future.Ahead of the service launch in April 2026, Honda today launched the official Honda Heritage Works website. This was made possible by the establishment of a new collaborative framework with parts suppliers, technological advancements, and adoption of new materials and manufacturing methods.- “Genuine Honda Heritage Reproduction Parts” will be reproduced using the same materials and production methods that were used for the original parts. Both types of parts will be available globally in the Honda Heritage Parts lineup. The facility will offer authentic and comprehensive restoration works that only Honda can achieve. The service menu consists of two options:- Basic Restoration packages frequently requested works on performance-related items such as the engine and suspensions.- Total Restoration also includes exterior and interior works as well as more detailed, comprehensive works tailored to the condition of each vehicle.Starting in early January 2026, applications for restoration works for the first-generation NSX (NA1-100) will be accepted through Honda Cars dealerships throughout Japan, with works scheduled to begin in April.More details, including the application process and pricing, will be posted on the official Honda Heritage Works website in early January 2026.Please note: the application period for the NSX Refresh Plan ended at the end of August 2025.Honda Restoration Service menuRestoration worksBasicRestorationTotalRestorationRemoval of the engine from the vehicle for parts replacement, cleaning, and internal inspectionOOReplacement of suspension-related partsOOReplacement and adjustment of age-worn parts related to doorsand other openingsOOExterior restoration(Complete repainting after disassembly to the body in white)OptionalOInterior restoration(Reupholstery of seats, dashboard, door panels, and controls)OptionalO With the launch of Honda Heritage Works, Honda will further enhance its after-sale services and deliver added value so that customers who have cherished and enjoyed classic Honda sport-type models for many years can continue to drive their beloved vehicles with great confidence. Bank Mandiri Enhances Digital Resiliency for Financial Trading in Indonesia through Advanced Time Sync Solutions with NEC and Adtran Oscilloquartz

TOKYO, Dec 12, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701), a leader in the integration of IT and network technologies, today announced that Indonesia-based Bank Mandiri has selected NEC’s Network Transformation Service to implement Adtran’s innovative Oscilloquartz time synchronization technology in its Jakarta data centers, elevating the bank’s digital infrastructure. With this new secure timing solution, Bank Mandiri is reinforcing its abilities to comply with stringent global banking regulations, which enables effective auditing for fraud prevention and enhances operational efficiency. As one of the largest banks in Indonesia, Bank Mandiri aims to be the preferred financial partner for its customers by seamlessly integrating its financial products and services into their daily lives through the delivery of simple, fast digital banking solutions. While Bank Mandiri accelerates digital banking for social innovation, enhancing security to protect customers from fraud is crucial. However, using a traditional public Network Time Protocol (NTP) clock server has not been accurate enough to meet industry-standard regulations, such as MiFID, for effective fraud prevention. Moreover, reliance on public NTP servers may result in greater visibility of Bank Mandiri’s network, which creates a need for enhanced vigilance and risk management. To address these challenges, NEC collaborated with its global partner Adtran to deploy the OSA 5412, a versatile NTP clock server designed for precise time synchronization with upgradeability to support Precision Time Protocol (PTP). As dedicated NTP servers in data centers, OSA 5412 provide increased accuracy and reliability for important activities such as transaction reporting, effectively meeting banking regulations for traceability and enhanced customer security. Moreover, this solution offers advanced jamming and spoofing detection to safeguard against cyber threats.Bank Mandiri’s adoption of NEC’s Network Transformation Service and Adtran’s Oscilloquartz time synchronization technology positions the bank at the forefront of digital banking in Indonesia, setting a new benchmark for security and operational excellence. Moving forward, NEC is committed to supporting the evolving needs of the banking industry and driving the advancement of secure digital banking."Bank Mandiri remains dedicated to driving digital innovation that enhances both customer satisfaction and security. Through our collaboration with NEC and Adtran, we have transformed our time synchronization capabilities, ensuring greater transaction traceability and operational reliability. As a digital pioneer in Indonesia's banking sector, we will continue to lead with innovation—leveraging AI and cutting-edge digital technologies to deliver trusted, future-ready financial services for our customers."- Denny Dwi Mavianto – Team Leader Bank Mandiri"Precise and secure time synchronization is essential to building trust in digital banking. Our OSA 5412 platform delivers industry-leading accuracy, resiliency and advanced security features, such as jamming and spoofing detection. This deployment not only meets global regulatory standards but also strengthens Bank Mandiri’s foundation for secure, real-time financial services in today’s dynamic digital economy."- Stuart Broome, GM of EMEA and APAC sales at Adtran."We are honored to support Bank Mandiri in elevating its digital infrastructure through our advanced network transformation and time synchronization solutions, in partnership with Adtran. NEC has long been dedicated to driving digital innovation in the banking sector by modernizing critical infrastructure, and we remain committed to delivering new advancements. We look forward to empowering financial institutions like Bank Mandiri to drive innovation and achieve business success in the AI and digital era."- Masayuki Kayahara, Corporate SVP, Global Network Division, NEC CorporationAbout NEC CorporationNEC Corporation has established itself as a leader in the integration of IT and network technologies while promoting the brand statement of "Orchestrating a brighter world." NEC and ClimateAi sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for business co-creation to enhance climate resilience across various industries JCN Newswire

NEC and ClimateAi sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for business co-creation to enhance climate resilience across various industries

TOKYO, Dec 12, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) and ClimateAi, Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the co-creation of business opportunities aimed at enhancing resilience against the impacts of climate change across multiple industries.By integrating ClimateAi's climate adaptation and risk forecasting technology with NEC's expertise in agritech, AI, data analysis, and optimization, the two companies aim to build solutions that directly support climate adaptation decision-making at the farm, corporate, financial, and governmental levels.BackgroundThe progression of climate change is heightening physical risks to food security and corporate supply chains, such as agricultural production variability, logistic disruptions, and price fluctuation risks. However, visualizing the return on investment (ROI) of climate adaptation measures—and continuously monitoring their effectiveness over time—remains challenging, making it difficult to mobilize funds and optimally take preventive measures. In August 2025, NEC and ClimateAi collaboratively developed a concept model to quantify the effectiveness of adaptation strategies like irrigation, varietal changes, and planting schedule adjustments using AI, specifically targeting cacao and rice in Africa. The model demonstrated its potential to support adaptation finance, policy formulation, and on-the-ground agricultural planning. This achievement was presented at TICAD9 (*1) and COP30, generating strong market interest from international organizations, development banks, and industry stakeholders. This MoU aims to promote the co-creation of comprehensive climate resilience solutions spanning agricultural sites, corporate supply chains, finance, and insurance, with a view towards transitioning from the demonstration stage to commercial application.Areas of collaboration- Both parties agreed to collaborate on business development in the following areas:1. Analysis of the ROI for climate change adaptation measures in the agricultural sectorBy combining ClimateAi's long-term climate change prediction technology with NEC's expertise in the agritech business, the companies aim to develop a service that analyzes yield, risk exposure, and the investment effectiveness of climate adaptation measures, such as crop changes and irrigation facility introductions.Considering the varying impacts of climate change on different lands, the goal is to analyze optimal adaptation measures from an economic perspective and support the advancement of agricultural assistance by international organizations, development banks, and governments.2. Enhancing supply chain resilience from the viewpoint of climate change adaptationTargeting the downstream agricultural sector, namely manufacturing industries that use agricultural products as main raw materials (such as food and beverage manufacturing), NEC and ClimateAi aim to support supplier optimization and improve resilience across upstream farms and supply networks to achieve services that support industrial adaptation to climate change. This technology can also support supply chain and procurement planning decisions across any industrial supply chain.3. Digital solutions for other sectors, including financial services and insuranceThe companies will explore the enhancement of financial services needed for climate adaptation-such as agricultural insurance-and identify new use cases for climate adaptation data across additional industries.Comments from each companyNaohisa Matsuda, Senior Director, Future value co-creation department / Business innovation division, NEC"NEC is delighted to announce an agreement on business development in collaboration with ClimateAi. By combining ClimateAi's strength in climate risk prediction and analysis with NEC's AI and data utilization capabilities and societal implementation prowess, we are confident that we can contribute to enhancing the resilience of supply chains and infrastructure while promoting climate change adaptation."Under the philosophy of ‘NEC Open Innovation,’ we are advancing the creation of new social value with diverse partners.Moving forward, through our collaboration with ClimateAi, we aim to accelerate implementation both domestically and internationally, centering on visualizing the impacts of climate change and advancing decision-making to co-create a sustainable society."Himanshu Gupta - CEO, ClimateAi"NEC’s global network and field partnerships open the door to implementing climate adaptation where it’s needed most. We’re energized by the work ahead—supporting organizations with agricultural planning, strengthening supply-chain resilience, and building practical solutions that can be deployed quickly and at scale. This collaboration also enables us to bring climate-informed insights into supply-chain and procurement planning, helping industries make better decisions as climate pressures grow."Future prospectsUnder the MoU, both companies will define priority regions, crops, and customer segments, and strengthen collaboration with international organizations, development banks, local partners, food manufacturers, trading companies, and financial and insurance institutions to advance early commercialization.NEC and ClimateAi aim to contribute to sustainable agriculture, food security, and greater industrial resilience.NEC’s new business development, under the key message "The future is ours to shape," is advancing NEC Open Innovation (*3) through diverse co-creation with a wide range of startups and partner companies. NEC’s collaboration with ClimateAi is one such initiative. By uniting innovative technologies with cross-domain collaboration, NEC continues to create new social value and shape the future.(*1) NEC to participate in "TICAD Business Expo and Conference" and thematic events for TICAD 9https://www.nec.com/en/press/202508/global_20250805_03.html(*2) NEC Lectures on "Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience through Digital Technologies" at COP30 Seminar Hosted by the Ministry of the Environment (Press Release in Japanese) https://prtimes.jp/main/html/rd/p/000001139.000078149.html(*3)https://www.nec.com/en/global/innovation/index.htmlAbout ClimateAi, Inc.ClimateAi is a climate adaptation and resilience platform purpose-built for the agriculture, food, and consumer goods sectors. HKTDC 4Q25 Export Confidence Index: 2026 Hong Kong Export Growth of 8-9%, Sustained AI product demand lays solid foundation for future expansion

HONG KONG, December 11, 2025 - (ACN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) – Hong Kong’s exports are expected to grow by between 8% and 9% in 2026, according to figures releaased today by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The forecast forms part of the HKTDC’s annual Export Outlook report and follows on from the city’s better-than-anticipated 2025 export performance. For 2026, this sustained growth is set to be driven by robust demand for AI-related electronics products. According to the findings of the recently-released HKTDC 4Q25 Export Confidence Index, the majority of exporters (53.2%) see rising demand for AI/new technology-related electronic consumer goods as the factor most likely to boost their 2026 business. This is seen as crucial given that the electronics sector, overall, accounts for more than 70% of Hong Kong’s total export value.Heightened uncertainty giving way to greater clarityThese upbeat figures are remarkable given the high year-on-year comparison base from 2025. This is because many exporters sought to frontload orders in a bid to complete shipments before the imposition of the much-anticipated US tariffs.Detailing the upshot of the tariff-related trade upheavals in particular, Irina Fan, Director of HKTDC Research, said: “While 2025 proved to be a year of heightened uncertainty, 2026 should be a year of greater clarity on global trade. With the Chinese Mainland and the US having come to a trade agreement in November, – some four months after many other nations had struck their own deals with the Trump administration – US tariffs are no longer among Hong Kong exporters' three biggest 2026 concerns.”Fan did, however, acknowledge that uncertainties remain ahead. She said that as US imports from different countries are subject to different levels of tariffs, business leaders around the world will be looking to re-organise their activities to optimise any cost advantages.Outlining what this will mean within the Asia-Pacific region, Fan said: “Chinese Mainland exports to the US will be subject to 20% reciprocal tariff rate until November 2026 [1]. This comparatively low additional tariff puts China-based suppliers, many with more mature and highly productive supply chains, on par with their Southeast Asia counterparts, while giving them a significant advantage over any country subject to a higher tariff rate.”Multi-sector expectation of continued export expansionUnderpinning Hong Kong’s anticipated 2026 export expansion are the findings of the HKTDC Export Confidence Index 4Q25, which was also released today. The two key measures of this long-established quarterly metric –the Current Performance Index (51.4) and the Expectation Index (51.9) – have both stayed above the 50-point watershed level, a clear indication that future export growth is expected.Commenting on the findings of the 4Q25 survey, Kenneth Lee, Head of the HKTDC Research’s Special Project and Business Advisory Section, said: “When it comes to expansion plans over the next two-year period, Asia remains very much the focus. For 42.0% of respondents, the Chinese Mainland was the highest priority market, followed by the rest of Asia (30.3%) and the ASEAN bloc (18.9%). By industry, exporters in almost every sector saw scaling up their activities on the Chinese Mainland as their priority.”Beyond the headline findings of the survey, a more detailed analysis highlights good news for Hong Kong exporters in terms of both individual market prospects and the likely future success of most of the city’s key industry sectors.Positive sentiments for major markets and key industry sectorsIn specific terms, turning to the Market Expectation Sub-Index, the Chinese Mainland (57.2) and the ASEAN bloc (57.0) are still considered to have significant growth potential. Predictably, this was less the case for the US (down 1.4 to 38.0), with the uncertainties in its trade environment continuing to unsettle Hong Kong exporters.Turning to individual industries, a number of sectors have expansionary expectations for the year ahead (i.e. had a relevant index reading of 50 or more). Topping the list is Jewellery (54.8), followed by Electronics (52.4), Timepieces (51.6) and Equipment/Materials (51.1).Despite such overall positive sentiments, the survey also points out the possibility that a number of challenges may lie ahead. Most notably, it cited rising labour and production costs (53.9%), growing logistics challenges (38.8%) and declining overseas orders on account of the general economic slowdown (38.2%) as potential future concerns.[1] On top of Trump 1.0 tariffs of ~20% on averageReferencesHong Kong 2026 Export Outlook: Sustained AI Product Demand Set to Drive 8-9% Growth Over Coming Year:https://research.hktdc.com/en/article/MjE4ODc2Mzk2NwHKTDC Export Confidence Index 4Q25: End-of-Year Figures Indicate Positive Expansion Prospects:https://research.hktdc.com/en/article/MjE4ODYyNTQwNwHKTDC Research website: https://research.hktdc.com/en/ Photo download: https://bit.ly/4oJPrPRHKTDC Director of Research Irina Fan (right) and HKTDC Section Head, Special Project & Business Advisory, Kenneth Lee (left) announced the HKTDC Export Confidence Index for 2025’s fourth quarter at a press conference todayHKTDC Director of Research Irina FanHKTDC Section Head, Special Project & Business Advisory Kenneth LeeMedia enquiriesPlease contact the HKTDC’s Communication and Public Affairs Department:Navin LawTel: (852) 2584 4525Email: navin.cm.law@hktdc.orgAgnes WatTel: (852) 2584 4554Email: agnes.ky.wat@hktdc.orgAbout HKTDCThe Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist and develop Hong Kong's trade. MHI and Worley to Deliver Full-Scale Carbon Capture Facility for Heidelberg Materials UK’s Padeswood Cement Works

The Padeswood Cement Works in Flintshire, Wales, United Kingdom(Photo courtesy of Heidelberg Materials)TOKYO, Dec 8, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), together with Worley and Heidelberg Materials, has entered the execution phase of the Padeswood Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in Flintshire, North Wales in the United Kingdom. The project will be the first in Europe to deploy MHI's proprietary Advanced KM CDR Process™ to capture around 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually from cement production operations at Heidelberg Materials' Padeswood plant. The CO2 will be transported via pipeline for permanent storage in depleted gas fields under Liverpool Bay, as part of the HyNet North West cluster. The news follows Heidelberg Materials' final investment decision (FID) in September 2025, made in collaboration with the UK Government under Track-1 of its CCUS cluster sequencing program. The new CCS facility is set to be operational in 2029.MHI and Worley had been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) study in 2024. In the execution phase, MHI and its regional representative MHI-EMEA via its London headquarters will provide the engineering and procurement under the Advanced KM CDR Process™ for the CO2 capture technology, together with other associated plant including compressors. Worley will deliver engineering, procurement, and construction management for the balance of plant.Cement production is responsible for around 7-8% of CO2 emissions globally. Since most of these emissions come from the chemical process (calcination), they cannot be avoided by switching to clean energy sources. This leaves CCS as the only viable option for fully decarbonized production.Tatsuto Nagayasu, Senior Vice President (CCUS) of GX (Green Transformation) Solutions at MHI, said: "We are proud to support Heidelberg Materials in realizing the UK's first full-scale carbon capture facility in the cement sector. Using our Advanced KM CDR Process™, this project will play a leading role in decarbonizing one of the most challenging industrial sectors. Together with Worley, we look forward to delivering this landmark CCS facility that will contribute to the long-term resilience of UK industry and help fulfill the country's net zero ambitions."Simon Willis, CEO at Heidelberg Materials UK, said: "This is the next major milestone in our plans to build the UK's first carbon capture facility at a cement works. We have established an excellent working relationship with Worley and MHI during the completion of the front-end engineering design (FEED) for our Padeswood project. This, along with their proven track record in delivering this type of complex facility, makes them the perfect partner to take our groundbreaking project to the next stage."Chris Ashton, Chief Executive Officer of Worley, said: "This project is a landmark for industrial decarbonisation in the UK and Europe and part of the HyNet carbon capture cluster. We're proud to be working alongside Heidelberg Materials and MHI to deliver a facility that will help transform cement production and support the UK's net zero ambitions. Our role in this project reflects our ability to enable sustainable industrial solutions and leverage our global expertise in delivery for complex energy and infrastructure projects."The Padeswood CCS project is expected to create approximately 50 new permanent jobs and secure over 200 existing roles, in addition to supporting up to 500 jobs during construction. As part of the HyNet North West cluster, the project will also contribute to building a long-term carbon management infrastructure in the UK, while enabling Heidelberg Materials to supply low-carbon cement to the construction industry.About Heidelberg MaterialsHeidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of building materials and solutions with leading market positions in cement, aggregates, and ready-mixed concrete. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Premieres GR GT & GR GT3 JCN Newswire

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Premieres GR GT & GR GT3

Toyota City, Japan, Dec 5, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) today world premiered two new models-the GR GT and GR GT3-by publicly displaying under-development prototypes for the first time.GR GT3 (Prototype) and GR GT (Prototype)Two new, unveiled models strive to provide an ultimate driving experience by way of enhanced capabilities centered on three key elements: a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance. The GR GT is TGR's new flagship sports car developed as a road-legal race car that further advances TGR's philosophy of making ever-better motorsport-bred cars. The GR GT3 is a new, GR GT-based, FIA GT3-spec race car engineered for all customers who want to win races. Both unveiled models feature the active adoption of new technologies and manufacturing methods, including Toyota's first all-aluminum body frame and a 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine. The GR GT and GR GT3 are flagship models that embody TGR's philosophy of building ever-better motorsports-bred cars. Their development-starting with the vehicle concept formulation stage-was advanced under a one-team approach centered on TMC Chairman Akio Toyoda, aka Master Driver Morizo, in which professional drivers Tatsuya Kataoka, Hiroaki Ishiura, and Naoya Gamou, gentleman driver Daisuke Toyoda, and in-house evaluation drivers worked in unison with engineers. The GR GT is defined by a driver-first approach to development that involves listening to, understanding, and fulfilling the needs of the person behind the wheel. The GR GT3-a race car based on the GR GT-was also developed in line with this methodology.Positioned as flagships in the footsteps of the Toyota 2000GT of yesteryear and the Lexus LFA, one of the aims of the development of the GR GT and GR GT3 was to preserve and pass on "the secret sauce of car-making" to the next generation as "Toyota's Shikinen Sengu*". The two models are the result of veterans of development of the Lexus LFA transferring skills and techniques to younger members, the active adoption of new, Toyota-first technologies for enhanced vehicle performance, and the taking on of numerous unprecedented challenges.Main features3 key elementsThe GR GT was conceptualized and developed as a road-legal race car. As a manifestation of insistence on pursuing a driver-first approach, development strived to not only endow the GR GT with a high level of dynamic performance but also to achieve a sense of car-driver unity, enabling the driver to interact with the vehicle at all times. The GR GT is equipped with a hybrid system that pairs a newly developed 4.0-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine and a single electric motor. In addition to maximum system output of 650 PS or greater and maximum system torque of 850 Nm or greater (development target values) for overwhelming performance, unrelenting focus was given to the three key elements of: a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance.Vehicle packaging for an ultimate low center of gravityDevelopment of the GR GT, which is continuing, started with an aim to achieve a thoroughly low center of gravity by considering how to lower both overall vehicle height and the driver's position as much as possible. Attention was then paid to adopting a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive powertrain layout for ease of handling when driving the vehicle to its limit. The center of gravity of heavy components, such as the 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine with dry-sump lubrication, rear-mounted transaxle, and other major mechanisms, has been significantly lowered through optimized positioning. Both the driver's and car's centers of gravity have been made roughly identical by pursuing an ideal driving position aimed at enhancing the sense of car-driver unity and handling ease.Adoption of Toyota's first all-aluminum body frameAs for low weight with high rigidity, which constitutes the second key element, the GR GT features Toyota's first all-aluminum body frame. Additionally, the appropriate use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), plastic, and other materials in the body panels has resulted in a strong yet light body.Use of a reverse approach to create styling that pursues aerodynamic performanceGR GT (Prototype)Exterior styling, in pursuit of aerodynamic performance, was also born from a process distinct from that of hitherto Toyota car-making. Although attention has conventionally been turned toward aerodynamics only after finalization of exterior styling, in the case of the GR GT, the ideal aerodynamic performance was established first, followed by consideration of exterior styling. Aerodynamics engineers and exterior designers worked together to achieve styling that pursues aerodynamic and cooling performance.Interior styling, as well, was meticulously crafted without compromise, based on ergonomics aimed at achieving the optimal driving position from a professional driver's perspective and visibility needed for at-the-limit driving. Naturally, in addition to circuit driving, care has been taken to ensure suitability for everyday use.Aimed at being an FIA GT3-spec race car chosen by people who want to winGR GT3 (Prototype)The GR GT3 features the same three elements of a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance found in the GR GT, on which it is based. It meets the specifications of the Federation Internationale d'Automobile (FIA) GT3, which is the top category of production vehicle-based customer motorsports, and aims to be a car that is chosen by people who want to win yet be easy to drive for anyone.TGR believes that its driver-first principle, just as it is important in the GR GT, is equally important in the GT3 race car category, which can find both professional drivers and gentleman drivers behind the wheel. At the same time, in addition to heightening the competitiveness of the GR GT3 as a car, TGR is also preparing to establish an optimal support system for customers who race to help them fully enjoy motorsports. For making ever-better carsThe TGR flagship models GR GT and GR GT3 are defined not only by their adoption of new technologies but also by their having been created through the taking up of the challenge of using new development and manufacturing methods. In developing the GR GT and GR GT3, TGR employed multiple methodologies that leverage insights gained from competing in motorsports. The use of driving simulator-assisted vehicle research and development, which is now common in race car development, is an example of such. Introducing driving simulator use early in the development process enabled efficient refinement of fundamental vehicle characteristics from the outset. In addition to using simulators in the creation of each component, extensive real-world testing was done not only on test courses, such as the one at Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama, but also at circuits around the world, including Fuji Speedway and the Nürburgring, enabling verification of at-the-limit driving performance and durability. GT GR testing also took place on public roads to give the model the ability to provide exhilaration, ease of handling, and peace of mind in everyday use.Like other GR models, the GR GT and GR GT3 have been repeatedly honed, driven to failure, and repaired to make them into models that will live up to all drivers' expectations. As it accelerates its efforts to make ever-better cars, TGR is continuing development of the GR GT and GR GT3 toward launching them around 2027. Further details are to be released as they become available. For more details, please visit: https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/toyota/43622107.html Copyright 2025 JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com. The ritual involves not only rebuilding the shrine itself but also recrafting its furnishings and ceremonial garments housed within. As such, it serves as a platform for artisans of a wide range of traditional Japanese crafts-including architecture, blacksmithing, and weaving-to pass on their skills to the next generation. The three unveiled models are being positioned as TMC's flagship sports cars, in the footsteps of the Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA. They embody "Toyota's Shikinen Sengu" through the making of sports cars by preserving and passing on to the next generation fundamental car-making skills and incorporating new technologies. All three are being developed together under a shared philosophy centered on three key elements: a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and the pursuit of aerodynamic performance.GR GTA new flagship pursuing overwhelming performanceThe GR GT is a new flagship sports car that further advances TGR's philosophy of making ever-better motorsports-bred cars. A diverse range of drivers, including Master Driver Morizo, professional drivers Tatsuya Kataoka, Hiroaki Ishiura, and Naoya Gamo, gentleman driver Daisuke Toyoda, and in-house evaluation drivers, was involved in its development from the concept formulation stage. All aspects of development prioritized the driver's perspective, starting with the driving position. The model is still being refined, with drivers repeatedly putting it through the "hone, drive to failure, and repair" cycle, as with other GR products.Master Driver Morizo urged the development team onward with calls of "I want you to go all out," and "I want you to push even further." In response, those involved overcame an unprecedented number of challenges across every domain, from development to manufacturing, including the adoption of Toyota-first new technologies.Centered on front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle packaging, the GR GT features a thoroughly low center of gravity and adopts Toyota's first all-aluminum body frame for low weight with high rigidity, as well as styling that gives paramount priority to aerodynamics. Its power unit is a newly developed 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo with dry-sump lubrication, and its drivetrain uses a carbon-fiber torque tube and a transaxle layout. The rear-located transaxle is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, a single electric motor, and a mechanical, limited-slip differential. The result is driving performance that is easy to handle for drivers of all skill levels and that enables drivers to fully interact with the car.GR GT3A new FIA GT3-spec race car built with a driver-first approachBased on the GR GT, the GR GT3 was engineered to compete in races worldwide. Created in accordance with FIA GT3 regulations-the top category for production-vehicle-based customer motorsports-it aims at being chosen by both professional and gentleman drivers who want to win, as well as being easy to drive for anyone behind the wheel. Its aluminum space-frame chassis, low-mount double wishbone suspension, and 4-liter, V8 twin-turbo engine are all drawn from the GR GT.Going beyond just aiming to make the GR GT3 a high-performance race car, TGR is also preparing to establish an optimal support system for customers competing in international GT3 series races.Lexus LFA Concept: Sights set on being a true BEV sports carCreated to be a true battery electric vehicle (BEV) sports car that exceeds customer expectations, the Lexus LFA Concept is a concept model that, like the GR GT and GR GT3, was developed under a one-team approach with Master Driver Morizo. It inherits and evolves the LFA's spirit, pursuing a balance of styling and driving performance. By leveraging technology and car-making skills that must be preserved, Lexus is transforming the perception that BEV sports cars are still in their infancy and is taking on the challenge of shaping the future of car-making.For details on the GR GT and GR GT3, please refer to a related press release to be issued by TGR. For details on the Lexus LFA Concept, please refer to a related press release to be issued by Lexus. World’s First General Design Approval (GDA) for Developed Steel and Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) Exemption based on ECA for Low-pressure Liquefied CO2 Tank made of KF460 steel JCN Newswire

World’s First General Design Approval (GDA) for Developed Steel and Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) Exemption based on ECA for Low-pressure Liquefied CO2 Tank made of KF460 steel

TOKYO, Dec 5, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Mitsubishi Shipbuilding), a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, and Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) have applied Nippon Steel's developed steel to the cargo tanks of low-pressure liquified CO2 (LCO2) carriers and have jointly developed the PWHT(*1)-exemption technology based on ECA(*2). Both companies have recently received the world's first General Design Approval (GDA)(*3) from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) for this technology.Illustration of a Ship with Low-pressure LCO2 TanksAs part of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding's cross-industry initiatives to standardize large LCO2 carriers, both companies are collaborating to develop the steel for large LCO2 tanks and establish a PWHT-exempt manufacturing process based on ECA to achieve both economic viability and productivity. When an economical high-strength carbon-manganese steel is used in large LCO2 tank manufacturing, PWHT is generally required for tank welds as per IGC code(*4). However, heat-treatment furnaces capable of annealing large LCO2 tanks are extremely limited, and this manufacturing process has become a significant obstacle to tank enlargement and a stable supply. To address this issue, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding evaluated the integrity of tank welds through an ECA based on the steel plate properties developed by Nippon Steel. The results of ECA demonstrated the validity of manufacturing process without PWHT and received GDA.Nippon Steel developed the steel that conforms to NK standard of KF460(*5) - with high strength, excellent low-temperature toughness, and economic viability—to enable the PWHT-exemption technology for large low-pressure LCO2 tanks developed by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding. The acquisition of this GDA represents a remarkable breakthrough achieved by the technical cooperation between the two companies, and it will contribute greatly to reducing LCO2 transportation costs by ensuring the safety of low-pressure LCO2 tanks while delivering both economic viability and productivity. Mitsubishi Shipbuilding and Nippon Steel will build on this joint success and work with supply-chain partners involved in LCO2 tank manufacturing to commercialize the developed steel and low-pressure LCO2 tanks.MHI Group is currently pursuing strategic measures to strengthen its business for the energy transition. In conjunction with this initiative, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding is making efforts to contribute to the advancement of the maritime industries in Japan and around the world by utilizing its shipbuilding-based marine engineering technologies in addition to conventional shipbuilding. The development of this low-pressure LCO2 tank technology is one example of these efforts. Collaboration with Nippon Steel also demonstrates MHI Group's commitment to partnerships. Moving forward, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding will continue to build strategic global partnerships both to incorporate external expertise and actively advance the development of a CCUS value chain. Through these efforts, the company aims to provide its technologies, products and services to ever more customers.Nippon Steel has set out the Nippon Steel Carbon Neutral Vision 2050 to support the aim of realizing a carbon neutral society in 2050. In addition to reducing CO2 emissions in its own manufacturing processes, by delivering advanced products and solution technologies under the NSCarbolex™ Solution(*6) brand, it also aims to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in society. The developed steel among this joint development project with Mitsubishi Shipbuilding corresponds to the Thermo-Mechanical Control Process (TMCP) steel of NSCarbolex Solution, enhances the economic performance of entire CCUS value chains, and makes a significant contribution to their realization. CO2 reduction is an urgent issue across all industries, and Nippon Steel will continue to advance products and solution technologies to support its customers' decarbonization and competitiveness, contributing to the realization of a carbon neutral society.GDA Certification(*1) In post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), welded structural materials are reheated to a specified temperature and held at that temperature for a defined period. This process aims to relieve residual stress generated during welding and improve the quality of welding joints. PWHT is generally performed in a dedicated furnace. When the products are of large size, furnace size may cause bottlenecks in the manufacturing process.(*2) Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) is an evaluation method that uses assumed micro initial defects in the welds and the estimated stress history together with material and welding properties, to confirm that no major failures will occur in the welds during the product's service life.(*3) General Design Approval (GDA) indicates that a certification body has reviewed design documents equivalent to a product's final documents and confirmed that the subject equipment meets technical requirements and relevant safety standards. In this case, the review was conducted based on the IGC Code and ClassNK classification rules applicable to ships transporting liquefied gases in bulk.(*4) IGC Code (The International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk) is an international regulation stipulating conditions to ensure the safety of vessels that transport liquefied gases (LCO2, LNG, etc.) in bulk.(*5) KF460 steel is a carbon-manganese steel with excellent low-temperature properties, as specified under ClassNK classification rules for ships. According to the rules, these high-tensile strength rolled steel plates must have a yield strength of at least 460N/mm2 and a tensile strength of at least 540N/mm2.(*6) NSCarbolex Solution is a Nippon Steel brand encompassing advanced products and solution technologies that contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in society. Eisai Presents New Data on the Continued and Expanding Benefit of LEQEMBI(R) (lecanemab-irmb) Maintenance Treatment in Early Alzheimer’s Disease at CTAD 2025

TOKYO and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec 4, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Haruo Naito, "Eisai") and Biogen Inc. (Nasdaq: BIIB, Corporate headquarters: Cambridge, Massachusetts, CEO: Christopher A. Viehbacher, "Biogen") announced today that the latest findings on time savings with continued treatment with humanized anti-soluble aggregated amyloid-beta (Aβ) monoclonal antibody lecanemab (generic name, U.S. brand name LEQEMBI®) were presented at the 18th Clinical Trials on Alzheimer's Disease (CTAD) Conference. Additionally, a scientific symposium was held on the subcutaneous formulation (SC-AI), which was approved for maintenance treatment in the United States in August 2025, and the rolling supplemental Biologics License Application (sBLA) for initiation treatment was completed in November 2025. The application for a subcutaneous injectable formulation in Japan was submitted in November 2025.Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive, relentless disease with Aβ and tau as hallmarks, that is caused by a continuous underlying neurotoxic process driven by protofibrils* (PF) that begins before amyloid plaque removal and continues afterward.1,2,3 Only LEQEMBI fights AD in two ways - targeting both PF and amyloid plaque, which can impact tau downstream. Estimating the 10-Year Time-Savings Benefits of Lecanemab Treatment (Presentation: December 3, 2:40 PM PT)This analysis used data from the Clarity AD open-label extension (OLE) and 16 clinical studies of monoclonal antibodies for AD to estimate long-term AD progression over 10 years and the slowing effect of continued lecanemab treatment. The analysis evaluated estimated "time savings" (slowing of disease progression) compared to natural decline based on ADNI** (Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative) data (untreated group), using Clinical Dementia Rating - Sum of Boxes (CDR-SB). These results suggest that early initiation and long-term lecanemab treatment may continue to slow AD progression and help maintain cognitive function over a longer period.Findings from each group:Time Savings from Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) Due to AD to Mild ADThe time to progression from MCI due to AD to mild AD was 7.2 years in the untreated group, whereas with continued LEQEMBI treatment to the onset of moderate AD, progression to mild AD took 9.7 years, indicating a time savings of 2.5 years. In the low-amyloid group (patients who started treatment at an early stage: amyloid PET

Eisai Presents New Data on Anti-Tau Antibody Etalanetug (E2814) at CTAD 2025

TOKYO, Dec 2, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Haruo Naito) today announced that new data on anti-tau antibody etalanetug (development code: E2814) was presented at the 18th Clinical Trials on Alzheimer’s Disease Conference (CTAD). Etalanetug is designed to bind to the microtubule-binding region (MTBR) of tau protein and prevent the seeding and propagation of tau pathology.Anti-tau therapeutic antibody, etalanetug, reduces the novel biomarker plasma eMTBR-tau243 in patients with DIAD (Presentation: December 1, 4:35 PM PT)This presentation is based on the Phase Ib/II study (E2814-103) conducted in individuals (n=7) with dominantly inherited Alzheimer’s disease (DIAD)*. In this study, as previously reported, tau aggregates in the brains of individuals (n=3) were measured using tau PET, and the results showed that the observed tau PET signals were stabilized or trended toward decrease following administration of etalanetug, suggesting that etalanetug inhibited tau propagation and suppressed or reduced the accumulation of tau aggregates in brains.1The study evaluated eMTBR-tau243 as a specific biomarker of tau pathology progression and measured changes in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma.MTBR-tau243 is a CSF biomarker correlated with tau pathology, and eMTBR-tau243** has also been developed as a highly sensitive biomarker in plasma.eMTBR-tau243 is a novel fluid biomarker consisting of tau fragments that include tau protein amino acid residue 243 and MTBR, with endogenous cleavage at the C-terminal side of residue 256. It is thought to arise during the formation of neurofibrillary tangles, a key pathological feature of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and a strong correlation has been shown between tau PET and eMTBR-tau243 in both plasma and CSF.2 By using eMTBR-tau243, it becomes possible to easily measure changes in tau pathology using a blood test.Study results show that etalanetug reduced CSF eMTBR-tau243 by 62% at 3 months and by 89% at 9 months. Similarly, plasma eMTBR-tau243 was reduced by 78% at 3 months and over 90% at 9 months. These findings support etalanetug’s mechanism of action to inhibit tau seeding and spreading in the brain and encourage further studies to determine its clinical potential as a disease-modifying therapy for AD.Currently, etalanetug is being evaluated in two ongoing clinical studies: the Tau NexGen Phase II/III trial in DIAD, conducted under the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU) and led by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, added to a standard-of-care anti-Ab protofibril antibody lecanemab (brand name: LEQEMBI), and the Phase II Study 202, a global randomized trial in individuals with early sporadic AD, also assessing etalanetug added to lecanemab as the standard of care.Media Inquiries:Public Relations Department,Eisai Co., Ltd.+81-(0)3-3817-5120Eisai Inc (U.S.)Libby Holman+ 1-201-753-1945Libby_Holman@eisai.com* DIAD: Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer’s disease (DIAD) is a rare form of AD that causes memory loss and dementia in individuals - typically while they are in their 30s to 50s. The disease affects less than 1% of the total population of people with Alzheimer’s disease.** eMTBR-tau243 is a novel fluid biomarker consisting of tau fragments that include tau protein amino acid residue 243 and MTBR, with endogenous cleavage at the C-terminal side of residue 256. NEC Launches AI Agent Service in Japan to Automate Procurement Negotiations Using AI

TOKYO, Dec 2, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) will begin offering its "NEC AI Agent Service for Procurement Negotiations" in Japan starting this December. This service utilizes NEC's proprietary AI technology, "Automated Negotiation AI," to autonomously generate optimal transaction terms for procurement operations in the manufacturing industry and to negotiate with suppliers. This service automates complex delivery date and quantity adjustment negotiations in manufacturing, drastically reducing the time spent on transaction negotiations. It enables rapid response to demand fluctuations and significantly improves operational efficiency.NEC conducted a proof-of-concept (POC) at an NEC Group company in November 2024, successfully automating delivery date and quantity adjustments with suppliers for the procurement of approximately 1,300 parts. In this proof-of-concept, the "automated agreement rate"—the percentage of agreements reached solely by AI without procurement personnel intervention—reached 95%. Negotiations concluded under optimal conditions for both the supplier and NEC. This confirmed that the adjustment time from negotiation initiation to completion, which previously took several hours to days, could be reduced to just approximately 80 seconds, achieving a significant improvement in operational efficiency. In recent years, negotiations among stakeholders in the manufacturing industry have become increasingly complex due to diversifying demand and the extensive supply chains spanning from raw material procurement to final product delivery. Amid demands for shortening overall supply chain lead times and adapting to high-mix, low-volume production, procurement operations must address risks in a VUCA environment, making efficiency and speed through digital transformation (DX) advancement an urgent priority. However, many companies lack the capacity to swiftly optimize production systems and procurement plans in response to unexpected fluctuations in demand, hindered by factors such as labor shortages, overly personalized work processes, and cost pressures. Particularly, adjusting delivery dates and quantities for parts and raw materials is a critical task directly linked to production planning and potentially leading to lost sales opportunities. Yet, due to its complexity and the time required for negotiations, many items face the challenge of insufficient coordination.NEC developed Automated Negotiation AI to address these challenges, leveraging its proprietary AI technology cultivated through years of research. This technology enables systems to autonomously negotiate with business partners without human intervention, supporting the formation of optimal agreements. This allows for the coordination of procurement timing even for vast numbers of items that were previously unmanageable manually. By curbing excess inventory, preventing stockouts, and avoiding delivery delays, it creates a supply chain resilient to demand fluctuations. Through this service, NEC resolves challenges in increasingly complex supply chains and contributes to enhancing customer competitiveness.Overview of Automated Negotiation AIAutomated Negotiation AI is NEC's proprietary AI technology that adjusts and negotiates on behalf of humans for various coordination tasks traditionally performed by people. It automatically derives essential and desirable conditions for coordination and proposes optimal, mutually acceptable terms. It is designed not only for coordination and negotiation between AI and humans but also for coordination and negotiation between AI systems themselves.Strengths of NEC’s Automated Negotiation AI1. Proprietary Advanced Technology and an Overwhelming Intellectual Property PortfolioNEC's Automated Negotiation AI is proprietary technology enabling optimal agreement formation. It boasts the industry's largest portfolio with 28 related patent applications (as of February 2025).2. Leading Domestic Market Adoption InitiativesNEC is vigorously promoting the automation and adoption of negotiation tasks in Japan through the establishment of the "Autonomous Negotiation SCM Consortium." Beyond merely providing technology, NEC contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of Japanese manufacturing by driving DX across the entire industry.3. Global Trustworthiness Leading International StandardizationNEC's automated negotiation AI technology has been adopted as an international standard for E-Negotiation (*1) by the United Nations' standardization body (UN/CEFACT). It enables smooth collaboration and consensus-building compliant with international standards even in negotiations with international partners, contributing to the optimization of global supply chains.Key Features of This Service1. Automation and Efficiency for Massive Negotiation Workloads Difficult to Handle ManuallyIt automatically detects orders requiring delivery date and quantity adjustments to optimize inventory from all incoming orders and generates negotiation proposals. By presenting these proposals to business partners via AI agents and executing interactive negotiations, it significantly reduces the massive manual adjustment workload.2. Optimization of the Entire Supply Chain and Avoidance of Lost OpportunitiesThe automated negotiation AI calculates optimal negotiation proposals based on transaction data, supporting mutually beneficial agreements. This prevents stockouts and delivery delays, reducing lost sales opportunities. It also helps curb excess inventory, achieving overall supply chain cost optimization while enhancing flexibility and stability.3. Supporting Strategic Procurement OperationsBy automating routine negotiation tasks, procurement personnel can focus on strategic activities such as developing advanced supplier strategies, risk management, and sourcing new suppliers. This contributes to increased productivity and value creation across the entire procurement department.4. Seamless Integration with Existing SystemsIntegration with various existing systems, such as ERP, enables a one-stop procurement process through DX. This allows for smooth implementation and operation while minimizing the burden of system renewal.(*1) https://uncefact.unece.org/spaces/uncefactpublic/pages/65667327/E+NegotiationAbout Automated Negotiation AIhttps://www.nec.com/en/global/solutions/ai/analyze/negotiationai.htmlAbout NECThe NEC Group leverages technology to create social value and promote a more sustainable world where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.
